Gerontology in Domestic and International Politics

Isaac McKean Scarborough’s research considers how the development of gerontology as a biomedical science during the later Soviet Union reflects broader processes of social and demographic change, scientific expansion, and international considerations. Dr Scarborough hopes to elaborate how gerontology can be used as a lens to investigate the Soviet scientific community’s engagement with policy development, on the one hand, as well as with international scientific developments and worldwide medical trends.
